Briana McGowan
Growing up in the Midwest in my mom’s hair salon, I always had a natural comfort level being around hairdressers in salons. I studied Interior Architecture at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and practiced interior design for 10 years before deciding to go back to school to become a hairdresser. Parenting, regenerative agriculture, beekeeping, art and inner healing are my passions outside of hair.
12 years ago, I locked up my hair and quickly realized that there was no one capable of maintaining it for me so I taught myself a technique that I have spent that long perfecting. I have taught this method to 10 people so far and will be launching my online school to teach to students, anywhere, that want to learn the unique holistic method that I’ve created that works on all hair types. I can also travel to teach my workshops but require a minimum of 3 students to do so.
I’m passionate about respecting nature and balancing that with my desire to make things organized and aesthetically pleasing. My love of hair, nature, beauty and our relationship with the planet has turned me into an enthusiastic teacher and I love to share what I know with others. There is a connection in everything and it all starts with us, individually and when we heal ourselves, we heal each other. When we feel good, we do good.
I’ve had a solid 15 year career doing hair in the 757 and maintain a long standing loyal clientele that I adore, however, I do still take on new clients when I can. I love doing short haircuts, gender affirming haircuts, long mermaid cuts, and curly cuts. Grey blending and creative block coloring are my favorites. I can do real and faux locs on any hair type over 5” long. If you want to extend your dreadlocks, they must be 4 months old or more to guarantee they stay attached forever.
To book with me, simply send me a text with your name and what you are looking for. I’d like to see a picture of your hair and a picture of what you are looking for. If it is color or new dreadlocks, I prefer to have a consultation first so that we can make a solid plan and schedule an appropriate amount of time. For haircuts, I like to do them dry so that I can see your natural pattern and how it responds to my cutting. You can request a wash afterward, if you like.

DeNIECE ZINK
Hi my name is Deniece Zink. I’m originally from Northern California. I grew up in the the Bay Area, in a city called Vallejo. I was raised by my Grandparents, whom I love deeply and I’m still blessed to have them. My grandmother was a hair dresser at Sally’s Beauty. Back then, they had a salon in the back of the store where she did hair. Sometimes, I could go into the salon with her while she took a client or two and I believe that’s where the love of hair all started for me. I would beg for the long hair Barbie’s just to cut their hair. I got into so much trouble for ruining my mom’s curls iron, because I melted my Cabbage Patch Dolls hair to it! In high school I was the girl that did makeup and hair for my whole Dance class before a Show. I did hair for my friends for proms or other dances. I just always had a love for hair as far as I could remember. So naturally, I went to school for Nursing! That didn’t last very long at all. I ended up following my true passion and now I have been able to do what I love for the last 12 years. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I love doing Color. But I enjoy all parts of doing hair especially when given a challenge. I give 100% of myself to my craft and the care of my clients. My only goal is to watch my clients walk out happy. My name is Deniece but you can find me on IG: @Hairmajesty_1 Dm or Text for appointment. I book out about a month in advance so don’t hesitate. Hope to you!

Marianne
Hello, hello! My name is Marianne, my pronouns are she/her. I’m from Suffolk, Va where I still reside. I attended trade school for cosmetology my junior & senior year of high school before graduating from both in 2011. Soon after I started in a local franchise salon where I specialized in versatile haircuts for the whole family, highlights, & vivid color. In mid 2019, I left the franchise salon do a brief stint in a corporate salon where I specialized in short haircuts, tapered fades, & skin fades. I took a brief break from doing hair before finding my way to BHive salon in late 2019. During that time I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia & Celiac Disease. I manage my symptoms holistically but I do have bad days. If I’m dropping things more than usual or struggling with my words, it’s me not you. Please never be offended if denied an offer for food! Due to my food allergies I am gluten free & limited on what & where I can eat. I always appreciate the offer & being included! I was a dreadlock client of Briana’s before being asked to join the BHive team! My loc journey changed my life so much I wanted to do the same for others. I attended Briana’s maintenance workshop in 2020 and then her creation workshop in 2023. I shaved my head in 2021 for a fresh start. I kept it short til 2023. I missed my locs so much I started looking for alternatives, discovered faux locs, & fell in love! I added them to my services early 2024 & I’m currently on my own faux loc journey!
You can find me behind the chair Wednesday-Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 1am-5pm. You can book via my link https://BHivesalon.as.me/, DM @bkeeper_cuts on IG or FB, or calling the salon at (757)485-2782. I tend to book 2 weeks out Wednesday-Friday & 4-6 weeks out on Saturday. Appointments preferred but walk-in are welcomed. When not in the salon you can find me at home with my animals, out in nature, at an MLB game, practicing self care, or out thrifting. My husband plays semipro paintball which requires us to travel throughout the year, with the biggest trip being in November. I love theme parks! Universal Studios in FL is my favorite, leading me to became an annual pass holder in 2023. It heals my inner child & inner nerd, what can I say. I also collect plants, crystals, art, books, incense, music, & movies. I’m an open book! Come have a seat in my chair, let’s trauma bond & laugh all while achieving your hair goals! I thank you for your time & look forward to working with you!
